Today’s session is going to involve how to get some bodily movement back into your life.

After people quit drinking, they often find they have low energy and motivation. Exercise is a way to pump that back up. You may loathe exercise, but you truly do need it.

What I want to help you do is find creative ways to do it if you are one of those people who hates it. For those of us who enjoy exercise, it could just be a matter of self-motivation in all seasons to get out there and do it. It’s going to create the endorphins you need to help get some vitality back to your life.

When you quit drinking, it can take a long time for your seratonin and dopamine receptors to get back to normal. You can be a big downer to be around. Exercise will help lift you back up, and it will help get your body back to feeling strong and vibrant, like before you started poisoning yourself with alcohol or other toxins. Don’t worry…. “movement” doesn’t have to be working out in a gym or on a treadmill. You can easily find something that fits your tastes, and the space you have, your lifestyle, possible mobility limitations, and fun-factor demands. It can even be shoveling snow, cleaning your car, chopping wood, or rearranging a cabinet, but I hope you’ll have more fun than that. Today’s videos are a little different – see below.

Today, we are not having the usual video of “me talking to you” because I want you to MOVE with the video, not just sit and watch me. The only video today will be fun ones from YouTube to get you movin’ and groovin’… I’ve put some of my favorites from dancing the African Clock, to 8 Brocades of Qigong, to Latin Zumba. I also included some chair exercises and gentle chair yoga as well as Tai Chi. Search on YouTube yourself for more videos to make you move and get those endorphins pumping 🙂
